Why one sentence
A blank page asks what kind of day it was, how you felt about it, and what it meant. Most evenings that is more than anyone has, so the page stays blank and the habit dies inside a fortnight.
A sentence is small enough to write when you are tired. Two hundred and eighty characters, the same room a tweet gets — enough for what happened, not enough to labour over.
And because entries lock, the record stays honest. You cannot go back next month and tidy a bad Tuesday into something more presentable. A day you did not write is a day you did not write.

One sentence, up to 280 characters. Editable today and tomorrow, in case you write it late; locked from the second midnight onward.

Every sentence you have written, grouped by month, with a count of unbroken days. A year reads in a couple of minutes.

A daily reminder
One notification, at a time you choose. It never claims you have forgotten — it just says the page is open. Free, not a paid extra.

Your journal stays on your phone
Linewell Journal has no account, no cloud and no sync, because a diary is the last thing that should need any of them. Your sentences are stored in a database on the device and nowhere else.
- No sign-up, no email address, no password.
- No analytics, no tracking, no advertising identifiers.
- Nothing is uploaded — an export leaves the phone only when you send it somewhere.
- Uninstalling deletes your entries, so keep a backup if you want to keep them.
What it costs
The journal itself is free, and stays free: writing, history, the streak, the reminder and the plain-text export are the app, not a trial of it.
Premium is a single one-off purchase — not a subscription — and adds the five extra paper stocks, the Year Book PDF, and JSON backup and restore. Buy it once and it is yours.
Who makes it
Linewell Journal is built by parkdeve, a one-person studio in Australia, alongside Vialume and Patchwise. The same rules apply to all three: your data stays on your device, the pricing is stated plainly, and nothing is tracked.
