Linewell Journal
Last updated 5 August 2026
The short version. Linewell Journal collects nothing. There is no account to create, no server to send anything to, and no analytics or advertising code in the app. Your entries live in a database on your phone. If you never export them, they never leave the device.
Everything the app holds is written to storage owned by the app on your own device:
None of this is transmitted anywhere. There is no Linewell server, and the app does not ask for a name, an email address or any other identifier.
The app asks for notification permission, and only to show the daily reminder you scheduled yourself. Notifications are produced on the device; nothing is sent through a push service, and the reminder text never contains anything you have written.
Declining the permission leaves every other part of the app working.
Exporting is the one way your writing leaves the app, and it happens only when you ask for it. The plain-text export and the Year Book PDF are saved to a folder you choose; the JSON backup is a file you place where you like.
Once a file is saved or sent, it is covered by whatever handles it next — your file manager, your cloud drive, the app you shared it with. A backup contains your entries and settings in readable form, so treat it as you would a diary.
Premium is a one-off purchase processed by Google Play through RevenueCat, which tells the app whether the purchase is active. Payment details are handled by Google and are never seen by the app or by us. Nothing you have written is sent to either service.
The app is suitable for general audiences and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Uninstalling the app removes its database and every entry in it. There is no copy elsewhere for us to delete, and no way for us to recover one — so export a backup first if you want to keep your journal.
If the app ever gains a feature that changes any of the above, this page will be updated before that feature ships, and the date at the top will change with it.
